Israeli troops kill Hamas gunman in Gaza

GAZA (Reuters) – Israeli troops killed one Hamas militant and wounded two during clashes in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, the Islamist group and the army said on Friday.

An Israeli army spokesman said troops opened fire on a group of gunmen during an incursion into the Gaza Strip.

Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip in June when it routed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s forces. Israel regularly raids the coastal enclave in what it says is a response to cross-border rocket attacks by Palestinian militants.
