President: Nuclear achievements herald comprehensive progress

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in central Iran on Tuesday that present achievements of Iranian scientists in the field of peaceful nuclear technology would lead to major progress in domestic industries.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters before ending his day-long visit to the city of Natanz in Isfahan province where he inspected various sections of Natanz enrichment facility on the occasion of National Nuclear Day.

The president visited Natanz, 100 km north of the ancient city of Isfahan, earlier on Tuesday along with Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and a number of his cabinet members.

He announced that Iran has started the phase for installing some 6,000 new centrifuges in the Natanz nuclear facility.

The president also promised that “more good news” would be announced later on Tuesday through state TV news program about nuclear achievements.

Noting that nuclear victories belong to all Iranians, President Ahmadinejad added, “As a result of the resistance of Iranian people, the country has reached a major goal which is to become a nuclear state.”
In 2007, President Ahmadinejad announced the 20th day of the first month of the Iranian calendar year (Farvardin) which falls on April 8 this year, as the country’s National Nuclear Technology Day.

The day marks the victory of the Iranian scientists in producing uranium enriched 3.5 percent in Natanz facility two years ago.

The achievement made Iran self-sufficient in production of fuel and the country along with Brazil was recorded as the 8th country possessing fuel cycle, thanks to the efforts made by the young talented experts.

“Today, the Iran has found an appropriate status at
international scene,” said the president adding that ill-wishers of the Iranian nation were mobilizing all within their reach to stop the country from making further progress in the field of modern technologies.
