Pascal Couchepin underlined that Iran is rich of oil and gas reserves and is regarded as one of the major economic partners of the European countries and Switzerland is not an exception, Tehran Times reported.

The Swiss president is to discuss the Tehran-Bern gas deal with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in their upcoming visit, the Zurich-based Neue Zürcher Zeitung daily reported.

Switzerland’s Elektrizitaetsgesellschaft Laufenburg (EGL) has recently signed a 25-year deal with the National Iranian Gas Export Company for the delivery of 5.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
