TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran sign a grant agreement with the Lebanese Council for Development and Reconstruction to help the Council repair the road between Naqoura and Marjayoun in southern Lebanon.
The signing ceremony was held on Wednesday at the headquarters of the CDR, and it was attended by Iranian ambassador Mohammed Reza Sheybani, as well as members of the CDR.
In his address, Sheybani congratulated Lebanon “for what it has achieved in the last two years” in terms of reconstruction.
“The assistance that Iran is offering to Lebanon is for eliminating the effects of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon in July 2006,” he said.
These projects have included the rebuilding of bridges, roads, hospitals, schools, and clinics, as well as bringing electricity to villages that were damaged in the war.
The ambassador said that “Iran has not placed a ceiling to this assistance,” adding that Tehran was willing to “work together in order to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two countries ? politically, economically, socially, and culturally.”
Shibani thanked the CDR and the previous government for their cooperation with all of the Iranian efforts and for enabling Iran to contribute to eliminating the effects of the aggression, saying, “We also expect this cooperation from the new cabinet.”
