He pointed to the role that media play in encouraging the inventors, saying, “If we aim for development, acclaiming the inventors should be on our agenda.”

In a meeting with inventors and world champions, Rafsanjani went on to say that inventors should be supported by officials, Tehran Times reported.

He also urged the inventors to pursue their studies seriously.

“When invention develops into industry, (it) will support itself and does not need others,” he said.

Rafsanjani pointed to the Supreme Leader’s visit to the exhibition on technological innovations and said this shows the “officials’ support for development in scientific fields”.

The leader on Tuesday visited an exhibition on technological innovations which displayed 51 plans by Iranian scientists and experts on nanotechnology, biotechnology, microelectronics, communications, information technology, alternative energies, aerospace, medical plants and Iranian medicine, and nuclear technology.

At the beginning of the meeting, some of the inventors, champions and city officials of Karaj called for more support from the government.
