EU foreign policy Chief Solana heads to Mideast next Friday

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana heads to the Middle East next Friday on a tour which will include Egypt, the Palestinian territories, and Jordan.

Christina Gallach, a spokeswoman for Solana, told KUNA that the tour which will last three days aims at getting a briefing on the latest developments in the region.

Solana will brief the European Union foreign ministers on his tour on September 15th, Gallach said.

Solana is expected to meet Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday where the two will discuss several issues regarding the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis, Gallach added.
