Iranian FM Arrives in Baku for Talks

A00461187.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, heading a political delegation, arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Saturday to discuss the latest developments in the Caucasus region.

During his daylong visit to Baku, Mottaki is scheduled to attend meetings with Azeri officials to discuss bilateral ties and exchange views about regional and international issues.

Following his arrival in Baku, Mottaki met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, where the two sides exchanged views on expansion of mutual ties as well as regional developments behind closed doors.

Mottaki, who arrived in the Azeri capital from Russia, conveyed the warm greetings of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the Azeri president.

The Iranian foreign minister is also scheduled to confer with his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov on issues of mutual interests.

Mottaki paid a one-day visit to Moscow on Friday to discuss major bilateral, regional and international developments with the Russian senior officials including Lavrov.
