Twin bombing hits Iraqi capital

A050721912.jpgA double bombing in a west Baghdad business district has killed at least eight people and wounded another 20, Iraqi police say.

The first blast was a car bomb followed two minutes later by another explosion caused either by another car bomb or a roadside device, police said.

In other violence, an explosion at a junction in central Baghdad killed at least two people.

Violence has dropped sharply in Iraq since last year, but attacks continue.

US military officials have warned that security gains remain fragile and that insurgents retain the ability to strike at US and Iraqi government targets.

On Tuesday night, a car bomb killed a leader of a US-backed Sunni Muslim armed group in Ramadi, west of Baghdad.
