US warned against destabilizing Pakistan

A0409003.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei warned the United States against destabilizing Pakistan.

The Leader said that US plans to wreak havoc in Pakistan will only add to the failures of the Bush administration.

Washington has launched numerous missile strikes in volatile regions in northern Pakistan, leaving many civilians dead in tribal areas.

The US claims the attacks are directed at retarding terrorist organizations in the Afghan-Pakistani border areas.

In a Wednesday address, Ayatollah Khamenei warned Washington against pursuing its hidden agenda in Pakistan.

Press tv quoted the Leader as saying that the Pakistani people are now “awake” and “steadfast” in resisting the hegemonic agenda of world powers.

Unilateral US strikes inside Pakistan could destabilize the region, providing Washington with the pretext to prolong its military presence in the area.

The US, already engaged in two deadly and costly wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, has long claimed to be seeking out terrorists in the oil-rich Middle East.
