Russia willing to boost cooperation with Iran on energy sector

sadeghzadeh2008100518151050011.JPGRussia is willing to promote its cooperation with Iran in energy sector, particularly gas, said head of Russia’s State Duma committee on energy, transport and communication, Valery Yazov, on Sunday evening.

He made the remarks prior to leave Moscow for Tehran where he is to attend a regional meeting on energy.

Yazov is also expected to hold separate meetings with senior Iranian officials on major bilateral, regional and international developments.

Speaking to IRNA at the airport, he reiterated Moscow’s stand on supporting Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.

“Russia supports Tehran’s right to develop peaceful nuclear program,” Yazov said.

Condemning “certain states” for making efforts to tarnish Iran-Russia relations, Yazov said “Moscow is completely aware of those efforts.”
He added that Iran and Russia possessed 40 percent of world’s gas resources and that is why the US is felt concerned about progress of Tehran-Moscow relations and cooperation.

“There is no limit or obstacle on the way of strengthening Tehran-Moscow cooperation,” added the Russian MP.
