Iran, Kazakhstan Sign Cooperation Agreement

A015920013.jpgTEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and Kazakh Transport and Communication Minister Serik Akhmetov signed a cooperation protocol at the end of the 10th meeting of the Kazakh-Iranian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic, science and technical and cultural cooperation.

The protocol covers the state and prospects of the trade and economic cooperation, cooperation in the small and medium business, Information Technology (IT), sports, agriculture, transport and communication, as well as energy issues.

The protocol envisages construction of the Uzen ( Kazakhstan)-Kizilkaya-Barakat-Etrak ( Turkmenistan)-Gorgan ( Iran) railway track, as well as the second meeting of the Task Group to consider possible cooperation between the Iranian and Kazakh railway organizations.

Talks focused on discussions of an agreement between Iran and Kazakhstan on road connections and transportation problems.

The protocol envisages cooperation in the spheres of sea transport, including a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the National Iranian Tanker Company and NMSK Kazmortransflot as well as meetings between the two sides’ shipping and transportation companies and port officials.
