Kosovo Opposition Slams Government

10 November 2008 Pristina – The Social Democratic Party of Kosovo, PSD, has criticised the government over the European Commission’s progress report on Kosovo.

PSD spokesman, Gezim Kasapolli, said the report can hardly be called positive, citing the government’s up-beat spin of the Commission’s assessment. “Serbia’s parallel structures, corruption, mis-management of public enterprises are some of the criticism listed in the report,” said Kasapolli.

He also cited criticisms regarding the postponement of the establishment of the Kosovar Intelligence Agency. He said the agency should have been created immediately after Kosovo’s declaration of independence.

Kosovo’s senior leaders have painted the Commission’s report as ‘positive’, largely ignoring any weaknesses mentioned.
