Sofia – The town of Veliko Tarnovo in northern Bulgaria registered a record high temperature of 28.6 degrees Celsius on December 4.
Daytime temperatures across Bulgaria on Thursday shot above 20 degrees.
It was warmest in Veliko Tarnovo, in central Bulgaria, with an incredible 28.6 degrees Celsius.
However the storms which had buffeted Macedonia earlier in the day moved in over the night, hitting the southern Kardzali region the hardest. Dozens of villages were left without power. Houses were damaged nationwide.
In Sofia, the gale-force wind damaged a terminal at the airport. No injuries were reported.
