Iran Seeks to Help Gazans through Active Diplomacy

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that Parliament has decided to provide the Gaza people with practical and urgent assistance through active diplomacy.

Larijani, who arrived in the holy city of Qom to meet the city’s senior clerics, made the remarks in his meeting with Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi. Members of Parliament presiding board are accompanying the speaker in his Qom visit, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

Larijani added that the Iranian parliament has so far had active diplomacy regarding many world developments, including the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip.

He briefed the grand Ayatollah on the decision made by the Assembly of Asian Parliaments (APA) on participation of parliament speakers from Iran, Indonesia and Syria to consult with Egypt on ways to ease the Gaza crisis.

The APA acknowledged to help ease the hardship facing the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip and facilitate dispatch of food supplies and medicines to Gaza via Egypt and other diplomatic routes, Larijani said.
