NATO parliamentarians express satisfaction that Croatia will soon become a member of NATO.
Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader hosted a delegation from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, headed by Assen Agov, president of the sub-committee for transatlantic relations and vice-president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO-PA).
The members of the NATO-PA expressed satisfaction that Croatia will soon become a member of NATO. Today’s meeting took place as Croatia’s parliament confirmed the country’s agreement with NATO.
Sanader said this was a historic day for Croatia and thanked all the member states for the support they have given Croatia on its path to Euro-Atlantic integration.
He added that Croatia, by becoming a member, is prepared to assume a more active role in the NATO alliance, and that the alliance will gain increased stability and security in south-east Europe.
Responding to questions from the delegation, Sanader presented the Croatian view regarding Slovenia’s decision to block Croatia’s accession negotiations with the European Union.
