Albanians among victims of Italy earthquake

TIRANA, Albania – A four-year-old Albanian boy is among the victims of the earthquake that rocked central Italy early on Monday (April 6th), according to the Albanian Embassy in Rome. Four Macedonian nationals of Albanian ethnicity are also among the victims.

Albanian leaders have sent condolences to their counterparts in Italy. Prime Minister Sali Berisha also approved financial aid for families left homeless in the quake-stricken areas.

At least 207 people died in the 6.3-scale quake that flattened entire towns in the L’Aquila region, about 95km from Rome. Authorities say nearly 1,500 people were injured and 17,000 are homeless.
