Kosovo’s Premier, Hashim Thaci declared that Greece will recognise Kosovo’s independence in the “not so distant future”.
This declaration was issued during Thaci’s visit to Skopje on Saturday during which Kosovo’s government declared that Macedonia and Kosovo are to establish diplomatic relations very soon.
According to him, Macedonia’s recognition of Kosovo was “the best possible option for the peace and stability of both countries”.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008 and has since been recognized by 58 nations around the world.
On the other hand, Greece is one of the four EU member states which has not recognized Kosovo’s independence but has instead recognized its passports.
Until recently, Greek Foreign Minister, Dora Bakoyannis has been firm that her country will not recognize Kosovo.
