Outgoing U.S. ambassador commits to continuation of strategic partnership between Bulgaria and U.S.

SOFIA

Outgoing U.S. ambassador Nancy McEldowney has committed to the continuation of the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the U.S. At a ceremony in Bulgarian Defense Ministry she was awarded an honorary plaque Saint Georgi, first class.

I commit to preserving our strategic partnership on my agenda in my new post, she said.
She expressed hope that the new government, and the new defense minister in particular, would continue the traditions of good cooperation and wished high results in it.

Ambassador McEldowney highlighted that during her one-year term in office in Bulgaria a solid base had been laid for the development of the strategic partnership – thousands of Bulgarian and U.S. troops participated in joint exercises and the U.S. government invested in Bulgarian infrastructure development.

She thanked Defense Minister Nikolay Tsonev for the high honor and noted she accepted the award on behalf of all “men and women in uniform who protect the interests of both countries.”
