He underlined that Moscow wants Tiraspol and Chisinau to arrive at consensus on the form of peaceful coexistence.

Russia behaves actively and consecutively in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the NATO Dmitri Rogozin considers.

In his on-line interview for “Kommersant.ru” he remarked that the fratricidal war of 1992 was terminated owing to Russia.

In his words, the nature of the Transnistrian war was absolutely political in contrast to Caucasian conflicts, where historical offence, blood feud and other local customs are involved.

Russians, Ukrainians and Moldovans lived together for centuries on the both Dniester banks. Transnistria’s specific feature is not the fact of its other ethnic composition of the people than in Moldova, but in another historical world outlook, in another national instinct. These lands, which cherish the glory of Ekaterina the Great’s favorite – Great Russian Military Leader Aleksandr Suvorov have been always attracted towards the Russian civilization. Before 1940 Transnistria was not in the composition of Moldova and in the composition of the former Besarabian province. Romania’s territorial claims never applied to this region. The Russian language and culture consolidate the local people, which has a very mixed composition, during many centuries and it proves that the national instinct contains much more ideal and spiritual than earthy and material aspects”, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the NATO Dmitru Rogozin considers.

He underlined that Moscow wants Tiraspol and Chisinau to arrive at consensus on the form of peaceful coexistence.
