Greece’s new cabinet will be announced on Tuesday after PASOK won Sunday’s early elections.
On Monday the socialist party PASOK leader Georgios Papandreou will receive a mandate from President Karolos Papoulias to form a new government. According to some sources the new government scheme could be made public as early as on Monday.
The Constitution reads that Georgios Papandreou and the government members must be sworn in in the presence of the President on October 7.
The first meeting of the new parliament is scheduled for October 14 and on October 15 the parliament speaker and deputy speaker will be elected. On the next day, October 16, the prime minister is to present the parliament with the cabinet’s program and the discussions are to kick off on the next day and finish on October 18 with voting by name. In this way the parliament will give the government a vote of confidence.
