Talks on a durable peace are groundless until the EU observers allowed to fully control the situation on both sides of the line of division, Finish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb told the Georgian journalists in Luxembourg.
Stubb was commenting on the arrest of 16 Georgians for alleged violation of the border regime with so-called “Republic of South Ossetia”.
Allowance of the EU observers is the basic requirement that Russia must fulfill. This is not a compromise and concession, this is the EU’s demand,” Stubb said.
Such facts as the kidnapping of civilians must be eliminated, the minister added.
