Iurie Leanca: “Moldova is ready to give new impetus to Transnistrian conflict settlement process”

Moldova insists that the foreign troops be pulled out of its territory and that the present format of the peacekeeping force in the Transnistrian region be changed into a civil multinational mission under international mandate.

Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca said this at the 17th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council held in Athens during December 1-2.

During the plenary meeting of the Ministerial Council, Iurie Leanca spoke about the security situation in the context of the unsolved conflicts existing within the OSCE area, centering on the relevant elements of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. He stressed that the Moldovan authorities consider the conflict should be solved by granting a legal status to the Transnistrian region, by observing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
