Stjepan Mesic to visit Kosovo

Outgoing Croatian President Stjepan Mesic sets off for a visit to Kosovo.

At the end of December he accepted the letters credential of the Kosovan ambassador to Zagreb Valdet Sadiku and said he would visit Kosovo a day after Orthodox Christmas to avoid offending Serbian President Boris Tadic.

The Serbian head of state visited Visoki Decani monastery in Kosovo on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day – January 6 and 7.

Croatia recognized Kosovo on 18 March 2008 and in July 2008 the two countries established diplomatic relations.
