Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan resigns

Vano Noniashvili resigned after being appointed Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan in 2009.
The diplomat resigned for personal reasons, Georgian Foreign Ministry spokesman Iya Makharashvili said.

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili approved the ambassador’s appeal.

Georgia has not yet appointed a new ambassador to Azerbaijan.

Parliament approved Noniashvili’s candidacy to the post Nov. 17. Previously, he headed the Georgian Presidential Administration’s Press Service.
