US Ambassador to Bulgaria: We are planning a new partnership with Bulgaria as factor in dealing with the challenges in the region

The US will not compel Bulgarians to be choosing between Moscow and Washington, said in his first public lecture HE James Warlick, US Ambassador to Bulgaria.

The lecture has drawn great public interest, the event is attended by a great number of ambassadors, generals, army officers, MPs, business people. The event is being held at the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria and Open Society Institute – Sofia, and was opened by the Atlantic Club president, Solomon Passy.

The partnership between the two countries within NATO was one of the key issues of the diplomat’s lecture.

The Ambassador pointed out that Bulgaria and the USA share a broader vision for a new partnership beyond the traditional confines of diplomatic relations.

‘We are planning a new partnership with Bulgaria being a factor in dealing with the challenges in the region. Kosovo is an independent country in the western Balkans, while the Balkans are becoming increasingly involved with NATO and EU institutions’ Warlick said.
