Former Greek FM spokesperson George Kumucakos to visit Macedonia

EP and former Greek Foreign Ministry spokesperson George Kumucakos will arrive on a working visit to Skopje on Thursday, as a member of EU mixed parliamentary committee.

The EU mixed parliamentary committee will hold a session on February 18-19 in Skopje. The committee holds this meeting regularly in order to discuss issues in relation to Macedonian-EU relations.

“We will discuss issues in relation to ecology, economy, IPA funds as well as border cooperation. We will exchange opinions related to Macedonia’s relations with EU”, President of Macedonian delegation in the mixed committee, Aleksandar Spasenovski said.

German MEP Jorgo Chatzimarkakis will also attend the meeting as being the co-chairperson of the mixed parliamentary committee.

Besides Kumacakos, Slovenian MEP Zoran Thaler and Alojz Peterle, Romanian MEP Norika Nikolai, Maria Munjiz de Urkiza from Spain, Dutch MEP Marie Kornelisen and British MEP Charles Tanok will attend the committee’s session.

The regular meeting of the mixed committee follows after last week’s adoption of Macedonia’s report by the EP, which was drawn up by Slovenian MEP Zoran Thaler. The report recommends setting a date for start of accession talks with EU in March.
