The EU Foreign and Security Policies Chief Catherine Ashton will be making a visit to Serbia on Thursday.
Ashton will be meeting with Serbian senior officials, including the president, prime minister, and other cabinet officials to discuss Serbia’s EU integration process.
Ashton said that the doors of the EU are open to the countries of the region, and that Serbia needs to complete its cooperation with the Hague Tribunal and continue battling corruption and organization crime while ensuring an effective implementation of the law.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić said that he expects Ashton’s support in making Serbia a candidate for EU membership as soon as possible.
After her stop in Belgrade, Ashton will head to Priština.
