The EU will seek to establish Georgian-Russian relations, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos said at a joint press conference with Georgia Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze.
He stressed that Brussels has already made efforts to establish the Georgian-Russian relations.
“It will be difficult and painful path, but it must undergone to establish relations,” he said.
“The EU supports Georgia and has made every effort to establish relations between Georgia and Russia. We have visited the Georgia-Russia border, where opened a checkpoint that allows direct communication between the two countries, to this end,” he added.
The EU supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Georgia, Moratinos said.
