Kosovo to allocate funds for northern strategy

The government announced plans Wednesday to allocate around 4m euros for implementation of a strategy to put northern Kosovo under the control of Pristina rather than Belgrade-backed parallel structures.

The funds will be invested in infrastructure and economic projects, as well as in activities to make the new Mitrovica municipality functional. The government has already established working groups for northern Kosovo.

The co-ordinator of the government’s strategy, Ylber Hysa, says it’s important that Serbs there “have started to realise that this might be rather an offer than a threat or aggression”.
