A NATO week started in Armenia, the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday.
“The NATO week is one of the most important events held in Armenia this year. It is aimed at familiarizing Armenian society with the key activities of the North Atlantic alliance,” the ministry said.
NATO representatives are expected in Armenia. Meetings and other events, including video conferences and international seminars, are on the agenda. The NATO week will be held in Armenia for a fourth time. It will last until June 18. Cooperation between Armenia and NATO develops in line with an Individual Partnership Action Plan signed in December 2005.
The plan envisions security consultations with NATO, developing Armenia’s military doctrine, and improving the country’s defense budget planning. Armenia participates in NATO’s peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
