Croatia and Serbia may discuss crossing with a national identity card

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has announced that the time has come for Croatia and Serbia to discuss the possibility for citizens of the two countries to cross their common border with a national identity card. Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the Croatian Parliament on Monday, Dacic said talks on the issue should be held between representatives of the two countries.

Dacic’s suggestion follows Serbia’s decision to allow EU citizens to enter Serbia with a valid identity card only, a measure which came into force June 12.

The minister also thanked Croatia for the support given to Serbia in the process of visa liberalisation.

A statement issued by Serbian police said that Serbia and Croatia supported the efforts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania in the process of visa liberalisation.
