A mission of the International Monetary Fund will visit Romania starting July 26 to review reforms and discuss the 2011 budget, the IMF representative in Bucharest Tonny Lybeck said Monday.
“The IMF review mission will evaluate Romania’s recent economic performance and discuss with the authorities the economic objectives for the coming year, along with the policy measures and structural reforms needed to reach those objectives,” Lybeck said.
“Subject to completion of the review by the IMF’s Executive Board, the sixth disbursement will become available after two working days,” he added.
The IMF last Friday released a loan installment of 913.2 million euros (1.1 billion dollars) to Romania, signaling approval of the government’s deficit-reduction measures.
