OSCE PA Head appraises reforms in Georgia

Oslo hosts the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA). OSCE PA President Joao Soares opened the session.

In his welcoming speech, Soares praised the reform carried out in Georgia and noted that the refugees are provided with basic living and housing conditions, the Georgian parliamentary press service reported.

The meeting discussed the local elections held in Georgia. OSCE praised the election procedures. The Georgian parliamentarians also spoke about the elections at the session.

Georgian Parliamentary Vice-Speaker Giorgi Tsereteli said the international observers have named the local elections in Georgia a step forward towards democracy.

“It is especially important that the democratic development of Georgia does not stop even when a large part of the country is occupied,” Tsereteli said.

According to him, this progress has not gone unnoticed by the international community.
