Georgia, Moldova discuss regional security issues

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili met with Acting Moldovan President Mihai Ghimpu in Batumi yesterday. The two presidents discussed bilateral cooperation and coordinated their activities in international organizations, economic projects and regional security issues.

After the meeting, Saakashvili and Ghimpu attended the open air concert of British singer Chris de Burgh. De Burgh thanked the Georgian president for his attention, made a toast to Georgia’s prosperity, and sang the song “Russian Vodka.”

Ghimpu visited a special summer camp on Saturday for Moldovan children in Anaklia.

Earlier the Georgian government arranged for 170 Moldovan children from areas affected by heavy flooding to vacation in Anaklia free of charge. They arrived in Georgia Aug. 6.
