US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warns Bosnia over nationalism

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, on a visit to Bosnia, has warned the country that it is lagging behind its Balkan neighbours in the drive to integrate with mainstream Europe.

She said that even though hatreds had eased, nationalism persisted and as a consequence, the promise of greater stability and opportunity that Europe could bring remained out of reach.

“I hope that today you see that future we believe in for you. A future where you’re part of Europe, a part of the transatlantic community and you’re part of a nation that is working together to improve the lives of all of the people,” said the Secretary of State.
