Greece hosts Black Sea Economic Co-operation meeting

A meeting of the Black Sea Economic Co-operation (BSEC) foreign ministers took place in Thessaloniki on Friday (November 26th). Participants adopted a joint declaration on fighting climate change in the Black Sea region that will be submitted to the UN Climate Change Conference in Mexico next month. Romania takes over chairmanship of the BSEC as of January 1st.

After the forum, Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas met with Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic. Droutsas said that Athens plans to call an EU-Western Balkans summit in 2014, when Greece assumes the rotating EU presidency. He described the high-level meeting as giving an impetus to EU integration.
