No date for visa liberalization for Kosovo

European Parliament Rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek said in Priština yesterday that the EU had not set any official date when visas for Kosovo would be lifted.

The statement was Lunacek’s reaction to Hashim Thaci’s recent comment that, if he were reelected as prime minister, the EU would approve visa liberalization plan for Kosovo in the course of 15 months.

On Monday, Lunacek met with Kosovo’s outgoing Interior Minister Bajram Redzepi, who expressed optimism that the EU would lift the visa regime for Kosovo soon.

Redzepi said the European Parliament (EP) wanted to monitor the Kosovo elections, scheduled for December 12, and added that a total of seven EP representatives would stay in Kosovo during the elections.
