Albania’s ruling Democratic Party has started preparations for the May 8th local elections. The country’s Prime Minister Sali Berisha told the National Council on Sunday (February 6th) that the government’s objective is to hold free and fair elections. Interior Minister Lulzim Basha has been tapped to manage preparations for the vote in Tirana, where the Democrats hope to unseat incumbent mayor and opposition Socialist Party leader Edi Rama.
