EULEX arrested 8 for 1999 war crimes

The EULEX police arrested on Wednesday in Kosovo eight people, while one was arrested abroad.

The operation came in connection with the investigation into war crimes against Kosovo Serbs and Albanians committed in 1999, the EU mission in Kosovo said.

The arrest warrant was issued by the EULEX pre-trial judge at the Priština District Court, on the reasonable suspicion of killings, torture and other acts against Kosovo Albanians and Serbs, civilians and war prisoners at a detention center in Kosovo in 1999.

The EULEX release does not reveal the names of those arrested or where the operation took place, but the media say they were former Kosovo Liberation Army members, who were active in the Prizren and Drenica regions, around Mališevo.
