European Commission (EC) President Jose Manuel Barroso will visit Albania soon after the May 8th local elections to stress the importance of the process. The visit was announced by the head of the EU delegation in Tirana, Ettore Sequi, who met with President Bamir Topi on Tuesday (April 26th). Barroso will be accompanied by a high-level delegation. Topi’s office pointed out that “Sequi had stressed the importance of the local elections for Albania’s European integration process.” Topi himself underscored the importance of a peaceful campaign, to pave the way for free and fair elections.
