Officers from five EU nations have been deployed at the Bulgarian-Turkish border to help tackle illegal migration within Land Operation “Poseidon” of EU border control agency Frontex.

In early March 2011, Frontex made permanent its land operation “Poseidon” to patrol the land border between Greece and Turkey over the huge rise in the number of illegal immigrants which crossed into the EU at that spot in 2010.
