Dutch prosecutor leaves EULEX

EULEX Chief Prosecutor Johannes van Vreeswijk is leaving the mission due to the expiration of his contract, leaving behind unfinished cases of organized crime. EULEX is not willing to extend Vreeswijk’s contract because the Dutch prosecutor failed to issue indictments against any current or former minister believed to be involved in corruption.

It is speculated that there were several reasons why indictments have not been issued against Kosovo government officials, among whom the former Kosovo Albanian minister of transport and telecommunication and former KLA member, Fatmir Ljimaj.
