Turkey has welcomed the re-election of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to lead the world’s largest body until 2016.
The UN General Assembly voted unanimously on Tuesday to give Ban a second term as UN chief.
A statement the Turkish Foreign Ministry released on Wednesday recalled that Turkey had earlier announced that it supports Ban’s re-election bid, adding that Turkey had appreciated his good-will, self-devotion and professionalism during his first term in office. Congratulating Ban on his re-election, the statement added that Turkey was sure that Ban would continue to perform his job successfully.
