Barroso meets Turkish Cypriot leader to discuss the island’s situation

Turkish Cypriot President Derviş Eroğlu met with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss recently intensified peace talks between the island’s two communities to reunify the long-divided island.

Barroso and Eroğlu discussed ways to push Greek Cyprus for a settlement on the island and end the isolation of Turkish Cypruss. Barroso stressed that both parties should be encouraged for a lasting solution.
