Croatian President Ivo Josipović says it would make sense if Hague indictee Goran Hadžić was tried in Croatia, the country “where he had committed the crimes”.
When asked if Croatia would ask for Hadžić to be extradited to that country and whether that was possible, Josipović said that relevant rules of the Hague Tribunal and Croatia’s Constitutional Law made that impossible as Hadžić was charged with the same crimes by both the Hague and Croatia, and the Hague had the legal advantage.
He said, however, that it would make sense if Hadžić could face justice in the country where the crimes he was charged with had taken place.
