EP President Jerzy Buzek says Moldova needs political stability and elected President to join the EU

Just after EP gave green light for Moldova’s prospects of joining the EU, Jerzy Buzek said:

“Today, we specifically underlined Moldova’s EU perspectives. The perspective offered to Moldova by the Council, the Commission and the EEAS would encourage the country to pursue reforms”, he said. 

The EP President stressed that Moldova has made great progress, but it needs to do more in “fighting corruption and tackling the problem of poverty”. He added that Moldova needs political stability and an elected President to join the EU.

Buzek praised Moldova’s strong commitment to reform over the last two years.
