Hashim Thaci: North Kosovo not to get special status, autonomy

Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci said that the institutions in the country are about to set the supremacy of the law in North Kosovo, where the majority of the residents are ethnic Serbs, and to close the historical chapter of the clash between Kosovo and Serbia.

In Thaci’s words, Kosovo’s government does not clash with the citizens in the Northern part and there will not be any new status quo.

“It is very important for the people in North Kosovo not to live with Belgrade’s dreams of division. We all know that the barricades will not stay for too long. The only chance is for people in North Kosovo is to integrate and create positive relation with the Kosovo’s government and the international community,” Thaci said further.

In his words, North Kosovo will not get a special status, neither would it be granted autonomy.
