PACE co-rapporteurs visit Georgia

Kastriot Islami (Albania, SOC) and Michael Aastrup Jensen (Denmark, ALDE), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the honouring of obligations and commitments by Georgia, will make a fact-finding visit to Georgia on Oct. 11-14.

They will meet in particular with the Speaker of Parliament David Bakradze, the Deputy State Minister for Reintegration Irakli Porchkhidze, the Deputy Minister of Justice Tina Burjaliani, and the Deputy Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Giorgi Arsoshvili in Tbilisi.

Discussions are also scheduled with the working group on the Election code, the expert group on media reform, opposition parties, the Georgian delegation to PACE, as well as the diplomatic community and representatives of NGOs.

In Batumi, the co-rapporteurs will meet with representatives of local and regional authorities and of the Constitutional Court. They will also visit prisons in Tbilisi and Batumi.
