Balkan officials meet to strengthen cooperation against organised crime

Judicial experts from the region meeting in Belgrade pledged to strengthen cooperation in the fight against organised crime in Southeastern Europe.

Regional judicial experts meeting in Serbia at a summit on organized crime in Southeastern Europe said they needed better teamwork in the battle against the crime gangs.

“There is an urgent need to improve regional cooperation in the fight against organized crime, corruption and other serious crime,” Slobodan Homen, State Secretary in the Serbian Justice Ministry, said at the conference in Belgrade hosted by Serbian Justice and Interior Ministry on Wednesday.

Participants agreed that justice ministers in the region needed to work towards establishing regional arrest warrants based on European models.
