UK PM backs Serbia on EU

British Prime Minister says Serbia merits getting a start date for accession talks if it continues on its current path.

Addressing the lower house of the British parliament, the House of Commons on Tuesday, Cameron said Britain has always supported EU enlargement and such a policy had proved successful.

The British Conservative Party leader said that he was pleased that Brussels had granted Serbia candidate status, and underlined the important role that Serbian President Boris Tadic had played.

“I have no doubt this decision would not have been possible without the courageous leadership of President Tadic,” he was quoted as saying.
